Frequently Asked Questions

  • We are out of network providers for all insurance companies.

Like many psychotherapy practices, we are considered an “out of network" provider and will happily assist you in understanding your deductibles and benefits. Many insurance plans offer “out of network” insurance coverage to help offset the cost of therapy.

Out-of-network benefits cover psychotherapy with a professional you choose. Most plans require the patient to pay a deductible, and then reimburse a percentage of the fee after that. We’re happy to provide you with documentation to submit to your insurance company, and you can receive full or partial reimbursement for therapy.

Most but not all therapeutic issues are reimbursable with out-of-network coverage; it is your responsibility to verify the specifics of your coverage, however we will contact your insurance company as well to confirm your benefits to the best of our ability. Contact your insurance provider to find out if they will reimburse you directly for the out-of-network services you are seeking. Please view our Insurance Out-of-Network Guide for psychotherapy services here and our Guide for Reimbursement for Testing Services here.

We will discuss any out-of-pocket fees during your free phone consultation and will work with you to find the most reasonable rate or assist in finding you the best referral for your needs and budget.

We accept payment via Zelle, Credit Card, Cash, or Check.

  • We are committed to making therapy accessible to as many people as possible. Each therapist has reserved a number of reduced fee spots. Typically, these spots are used by current clients who have committed to therapy and have found themselves facing financial hardship at some point while working with us.

Occasionally, we have a reduced fee spot open up and are able to offer it to a new client. Due to the limited number of sliding scale spots, we are only able to offer a reduced fee to those with a true financial need or extenuating circumstances.

  • Each therapist’s rates are based on their level of experience and training. These rates reflect the investment and energy they’ve made to provide you with the most holistic treatment approach possible as well as their commitment to continue building their skills and experience. Please contact info@rapoportpsychological.com to learn more about our rates.

  • Therapy is an investment of your time, energy, effort and money. In return, your therapist will be committing their own training and resources to support and work with you to help you reach your goals. This includes your therapist investing their time, energy, effort, passion, as well as ongoing education, consultation, and supervision.

  • No. We welcome all genders. We are inclusive and LGBTQIA+ affirming.

  • This is a great time for us to get to know each other a bit and for you to ask any questions you may have about our practice and styles. We’ll ask you a bit about your concerns and goals and together we can discern whether our practice is the right fit for you.

  • We are accepting new and previous therapy clients via secure online services with free phone consultations.

Following the guidelines of the WHO and New York City, Rapoport Psychological Services is offering a hybrid of in-person and online therapy.  We are continuing regularly scheduled appointments via phone, Google Meet, and our Patient Portal, which are secure telehealth platforms.
